Now Playing On The Orajin Record Player EXILE PARADE // Hello Blue..

The band hail from Warrington and are right up there in top top quality bracket. I'm not sure I shared this with the lads before but I actually saw them years before they played a Live Show for us. They were doing a little launch of some kind in a bar above a boxing club I think it was. My mates Lee & Danny told me about it and I loved every second of it.

Lomax is one of if not the best front man I have ever seen.. and I mean anywhere.. He is a great singer but he is just an entertainer of the highest calibre. The band too are top class and have performed at a high level throughout their career. They were very popular in Asia aa well as Europe and recorded an excellent EP with Owen Morris. Which I will share more of in the coming months.

They played our first Live Online Gig at The Cavern and fulfilled a little dream of mine to have them play Live for me and they did not disappoint.. They backed that up with a Live Online Q&A for their fans on location (in my flat) It was meant to be an hour interview which turned into a 3 or 4 hour stream with plenty of beers and cigs being sunk and smoked.. Absolutely love these boys..

I am not going to write too much on this one as sometimes you just have to let the music do the talking. This could quite possibly be the most beautifully crafted song you will hear this year. One man, A Guitar & a Microphone. From English Singer Songwriter Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

    LYRICS:

No one here in New York
Can do me like you do
Can fill my bed with roses
    Whilst smashing up the room
I flew out here for diamonds
And all I got was proof
That the only thing worth chasing was you

'Cause when the lights go down on Broadway
And a taxi's hard to find
And I'm crying on the Brooklyn Bridge
Well, no one seems to mind
I'm sure that you've moved on by now
    Well, I shouldn't have called, I know
But no one here in New York, seems to care
    That I'm alone

    Strangers on the subway
    Make me feel insane
When I smile in their direction
    They look the other way
    Girls in my hotel room
Say my accent's kind of cute
But no one here in New York is you

'Cause when the lights go down on Broadway
And the music starts to fade
And I'm crying on the Brooklyn Bridge
    As strangers look away
I'm sure that you've moved on by now
    Well, I shouldn't have called, I know
But no one here in New York, seems to care
    That I'm alone
    Care that I'm alone

'Cause when the lights go down on Broadway
And a taxi's hard to find
And I'm crying on the Brooklyn Bridge
    As strangers pass me by
I knew that you'd moved on by now
    Well, I shouldn't have called, I know
But no one here in New York, seems to care
    That I'm alone

Welcome to the wonderful world of French Electro Blues rock duo Félix Matschulat and JM Pelatan. Scrolling through their website they talk of inspirations from this band and the other yet we like to steer away from any comparisons and get a good listen ourselves. The music is very well orchestrated and the delivery is very impressive. It's funny this Psychedelic Country sound was at the forefront of a lot of the bands we worked with years ago and now it's massive especially on TV Shows and the Big Screen Soundscapes.

Looking at their tour dates as expected Festivals feature prominantly as you'd expect this time of year and this in all honesty is where you'd expect them to take things to another level. They have big band sound written all over them that should grace any big stage. It would be interesting to experience that.. With a new album out soon I'm sure it will be a very fruitful year for them. Enjoy..

    LYRICS:

I’m just waiting, Down in hell
Sun is rising, Gotta see you again
I’ve got your name right in my head
    Birds keep singing once again

Take me away from this old damned place
My ghost is breaking my home
My mind gets mad, With this old city now

Down on the hill my mind gets mad
My feet are off the ground
Down that way baby, It’s the way I’ll do
Oh baby with a walking blues

Take me away from this old damned place
My ghost is breaking my home
My mind gets mad, With this old city now

See me rockin’ baby, In this old city blues
Got me tired by the blues, I’m tired by the city

See me rockin’ baby, In this old city baby
I’m just tired by the blues, I’m tired by the city

Down on the hill my mind gets mad
My feet are off the ground
Down that way baby, It’s the way I’ll do
Oh baby with a walking blues

Take me away from this old damned place
My ghost is breaking my home
My mind gets mad, With this old city now

See me rockin’ baby, In this old city blues
Got me tired by the blues, I’m tired by the city

See me rockin’ baby, In this old city baby
I’m just tired by the blues, I’m tired by the city

The late 80's early 90's were a great time to be hitting your teens. Things were starting to shift in music with the emergence of Dance.. Not that people hadn't danced before of course but this was different. Electronic beats were breaking through and we loved it. It was an era where there was an innocence if you like. Everybody got on. We all used to hang out together. Drink together.. Party together.. You get it..

Then these great tunes started to hit which united us even more. To be a part of such a thing was just amazing. Everybody together no matter where you were from or whatever background. The profound effect Dance music had on us and our generation was huge. It might explain why there is so much Love in our souls.. and Rebellion in our veins.. This was an underground movement that blew away the mainstream and it will happen again..

Why the trip down memory lane..? Well this new track from Armin van Buuren samples one of those great tunes from Guru Josh.. and brings with it a really cool modern twist and some really unifying lyrics.. Which again is what it's all about.. The People.. We Are All One.. Enjoy The Video..

    LYRICS

Can we slow down? Can we go slow right now?
We've been too fast for too long
Can we stop time? Keep it right here, right now
Where the two hearts become one

I need you to feel, I need you to know
These are the moments, These are the moments
Can we slow down? Can we go slow right now?
Can we stay like this forever?

    Da-da-da, da-da
    Da-da, da-da
    Da-da-da, da-da
Can we stay like this forever?
    Da-da-da, da-da
    Da-da, da-da
    Da-da-da-da-da, da-da
Can we stay like this forever?

Don't wait until the love runs out (Yeah)
Don't wait until it all falls down (Uh-huh)
Don't wait until thе moment's done (Yeah)
Keep making еvery second count (Uh-huh)

I need you to feel, I need you to know
These are the moments, These are the moments
Can we slow down?, Can we go slow right now?
Can we stay like this forever?

    Da-da-da, da-da
    Da-da, da-da
    Da-da-da, da-da
Can we stay like this forever?
    Da-da-da, da-da
    Da-da, da-da
    Da-da-da-da-da, da-da

Liverpool bands.. I've worked with quite a few over the years and they are always cool and edgy.. They all have their own style and never follow the crowd so to speak. Regular nights at The Cavern saw some quality underground bands taking to the stage. So when one breaks there is always a little excitement. Once you've heard their debut single you just have to go and get the album and give it a good listen..

The Zutons defo fit this mould.. The reason for this share other than they got some serious airplay on my recent holiday while sun bathing. Is they have just announced a UK tour in April 2024. The Album in question was Who Killed The Zutons.. Released in 2004 a whole 2 years before Tired Of Hanging Around which featured Valerie.. I'm sure someone else sang that..

So my story with these goes a bit like this.. In short.. It was 2008 (I think..) and I had a knock at the door. A sound engineer friend who I had just met while recording a band of mine with Noel Gallaghers guitar tech was stood there with 4 VIP tickets for V Fest.. The Verve were headlining so it was a no brainer.. I was going..

We bundled down there had a few beers and it was a choice between Kings Of Leon or The Zutons who were on separate stages.. It had to be The Zutons for me and one mate. The others went to watch Kings Of Leon who we caught a bit of later too like.. They were brilliant and considering the big name band on the main stage it was rammed..

So if you don't know the band. They are now..Dave McCabe who is the frontman and singer songwriter.. Sean Payne is the drummer and the excellent Saxophonist Abi Harding completes the line up.. Buy their albums if you get the chance. There isn't a bad song on them and if you can get to a show you will not be disappointed..

Listen now to the Milan/London based experimental outfit. People are trying to bracket their genre as they are very unique. Lets go for Psychedelic Dance.. They recently released their third album. Cleverly titled THREE.. Sometimes simplicity rules..

Yet this track Saturator is from 2015 and is a belter.. You would defo call this Underground. Just as we like it. Underground because they were just doing their thing playing to their fanbase in cool venues. This tune is instrumental but well constructed and has a real nice flow to it.. It would certainly get you going in the crowd. Hence the Dance side of things. Yet it feels dark and moody too.. Anyway you decide it's a really cool piece..

The Tallest Man On Earth is the Swedish singer songwriter Kristian Matsson.. With his most exceptional and unique vocal you just lose yourself in the music. A vocal that is perfectly suited to the folk music style it accompanies.. So in this video we share it had to be LIVE. Matsson's story is quite an interesting one in the way he was quite shy and unassuming in his early days as an artist. He didn't plan to release music full time and never shared personal information when sharing his art form.

So this kind of tells you it's as real as it can get. Recording his music himself at home shows another unique string to his bow as he records his guitar and vocals at the same time on one track.. This is another sure fire sign of his talent. In the modern music day and age of over produced computer generated songs its always cool to get back to self.. In its simplest formats.. We love the blues and we love folk at Orajin. Of course we love all music but give a singer and a guitar singing from the heart any day of the week.

I personally own his vinyl and they are played regularly at home and his music features heavily on my digital playlists. Having listened to influential folk artists be it political or life based TheTallest Man On Earth is most certainly on my go to list and his modest story only enhances his appeal..

    LYRICS

My body's in the summer storm
And my mind is with the feeling after
Old memories I can't let go
I'm moving on but they run faster

My morning is empty and the streets are wide
I look for nothing and I feel all right
Stillness in the ways I try
And then you walk on by

My body says the water's cold
But my mind will have a way to cross it
And I know I held the time so dear
And the feeling it was here, I lost it

My morning is empty and the streets are wide
I look for nothing and I feel all right
Stillness in the ways I try
And then you walk on by

In a patch in the forest
Little bells hang from the tree
And I ring them so gently
What if you heard me now, my dear?

My body's with the birds in me
But my mind is with the times they're leaving
I want them but I let them go
There's a sparkle in the dust I breathe in

My morning is empty and the streets are wide
I look for nothing and I feel all right
Stillness in the ways I try
And then you walk on by

My morning is empty and the streets are wide
I look for nothing and I feel all right, oh
Stillness in the ways I try
As I lean into the morning light
It's like my body's in some other town
And then you walk on by

Another newish band to bring to your attention.. Ghost Woman arent exactly new in the way they are a few albums deep yet very new to your ears. In our constant search for underground bands these have been on our radar for a while now. That simple psychedelic guitar plays throughout this track with again a very simplistic vocal. Simple is of course the secret to many great songs and this is up there.. Very well constructed with some nice uplifting lead guitar as the tune grows..

You can hear BRMC, Brian Jonestown, Black Angels influences so if you're digging these this is right up your street..
